About us

We build digital competence you can trust.

We provide advisory services and training in digital competence. Everything we teach, we have used ourselves, on assignments where the results were measured by someone other than us.

About the company

Two disciplines meet in this company: strategic communication from NATO, and psychology and counselling from the Norwegian municipal youth sector.

The company offers three services: digital safety for children and young people, algorithmic content strategy, and AI competence. Our clients are municipalities, public agencies, NGOs and the voluntary sector.

We keep to plain language and clear scope, and deliver no more than the assignment actually requires.

Our values

Three values that shape how we work, and what clients can expect.

Elevation

Being seen does not help if you have not earned the attention. We start with the substance.

Openness

We show how we work, and we say so when we think an assignment is not right for us. That happens more often than people expect.

Curiosity

Algorithms change. We keep watch, and tell our clients before the change reaches them.

Portrait of Christian Stenshagen, Managing Director of Stenshagen Elevate AS

Managing Director: strategic communication and AI

Christian Stenshagen started in the Norwegian Armed Forces and ended up as digital media specialist at NATO Allied Air Command in Ramstein. There he built the command's channels from nothing to second across all NATO commands, with the smallest team in the structure.

The job was about understanding what algorithms actually reward, and how to get complex and at times sensitive messages to land without paying for reach. That is the knowledge this company is built on. He holds a master's degree in digital communication and culture with AI specialisation from the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences.

  • Background in the Norwegian Armed Forces and strategic communication
  • MA in digital communication and culture with AI specialisation

Chair of the Board: psychology and counselling

Ane Martine Stenshagen is co-owner and Chair of the Board at Stenshagen Elevate. She holds a foundation degree in behaviour analysis and a master's in interdisciplinary counselling, specialising in work with children, young people and families.

She works day to day as a family counsellor in the municipal sector. That role sets limits on what she can do privately, but it is also the reason she is worth listening to. The digital safety course is as much about what happens inside a child as what happens inside an app. That is her field, not mine.

  • Foundation degree in behaviour analysis
  • MA in interdisciplinary counselling for children, young people and families
  • Practical background in municipal health and youth services

A course can inform without helping. The difference usually lies in whether someone has understood the child as well as the technology.

What others say

Approved references from NATO and from the Norwegian youth sector.

Christian Stenshagen is the standout social media expert I have encountered in NATO. Under his leadership, AIRCOM ranked second only to NATO Headquarters' main channel — across the entire alliance — despite operating with the smallest public affairs team in ACO and ATO. On engagement, reach, and growth, there were months where AIRCOM outperformed even NATO HQ. His statistical results are impressive, but what sets him apart is his foresight: the ability to identify new methods, reach new audiences, and stay ahead of platform changes before they happen. He is an exceptional and very capable professional.

I worked closely with Christian Stenshagen during his time as our digital media specialist at AIRCOM. He built our social media presence from the ground up into one of the strongest in the entire NATO command structure — with documented organic growth that none of our peer commands have matched. What made him exceptional was not just the numbers, but his ability to translate complex strategic communication objectives into content that actually reached people. He is the real thing.

Translation: After Christian's talk to our staff about digital platforms and children, I immediately raised the matter at Monday's management meeting with the question: are we contributing to digital neglect? It is rare for a talk to set off that kind of reflection across a whole organisation. Christian has a unique ability to make a complex and at times uncomfortable subject understandable and actionable for people who work with children and young people every day.
